Kulwinder joined The Performance Group Limited in July 2008 on an under-graduate placement through the Shell STEP Programme for an eight week project over the summer period. Kulwinder is currently studying for a degree in Business with Human Resource Management with the University of Northampton. In addition she is studying Finance as a chosen subject. In addition, Kulwinder is multi-lingual and speaks three languages fluently - English, Punjab and Hindi.

Shell STEP is a UK-wide programme that places undergraduates into small and medium sized companies and community organisations to undertake a specific business or technical projects driven by the needs of the host business, enabling them to develop their business through the recruitment of bright, intelligent and talented individuals.

The programme has the dual aim of communicating to small business managers the huge impact an undergraduate can have on their business whilst encouraging undergraduates to consider starting a career within the vibrant small business sector. Over the past 20 years, Shell Step has delivered in excess of 22,000 projects within small businesses throughout the UK.

Kulwinder's Shell STEP project for The Performance Group was to develop the content for the HR Performance Resource Centre - over 120 separate resources - which had to been legally compliant with all current employment legislation before uploading and formatting them onto the subscriber database.

The following is an extract from Kulwinder's report at the end of the project:

"I completed an eight week project with the objective of researching, writing and developing all content for the 26 areas of my employer's HR Resource Centre, as well as preparing the targeted advertising material for the launch of the service for the beginning of October 2008.

Through effective planning and implementation, I achieved my employer's objective on schedule. I researched, wrote and developed overviews clearly explaining the 26 subject areas required for the HR Resource Centre. In addition, I produced over 100 items of downloadable content and added these to the website. Finally, I designed a range of marketing material to launch and advertise the new service.

My employer now has a quality new service to launch to clients, and I have gained considerable additional skills and knowledge that will prove invaluable for the completion of my education and future career aspirations."

We were so impressed with Kulwinder's work she has been retained by the company as an HR Graduate and supports the The Performance Group in developing it's HR Resource Centre, products and services further during her holidays and breaks from University.

Kulwinder's Shell STEP report was judged the best from over 30 placements within the Beds, Bucks and Herts region and she received a certificate and £50.00 gift voucher for the best report. Below is a picture of Kulwinder receiving her award:
